“There’s something about the personality of a guitar that’s been around from the beginning. It has a sound. And to me, it has a history about it that becomes part of its aura — not to sound kind of woo-woo.

I just know that the people who played those guitars had a very strong connection with that guitar, and that becomes part of its personality.

And then, obviously, just physically, part of the personality of the guitar is whether it spent however many nights in a bar, whether it was dried out, what the wood has been through. That becomes part of the guitar too.

And it has had lots of loving fingers on it.”
